poem # 3 of ’30 poems in 30 days’

April 4, 2013

( i thought this was going to be very difficult, to come up with a new poem every day

but this morning, on the way to the bus, this poem was there, already ‘making’-

with no time to stop and write it down, i had to record it on my phone so it wouldn’t get

away!)

#3:

We have traded elephant for automobile,

bicycle for gazelle

and ancient leviathon gives way for the B Double Wide-

a veritable sea of metal rides

over tar topped streets that devour the countryside.

As we breakfast on traffic soup,

in the bargain, we are consumed.
